I have heard about the permits, however my understanding is that they were for beach weddings, not other photography. Can you clarify this or direct me to a contact who can. I have a scheduled couple portrait session at Kaanapali....guests at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel, who want sunset pictures on the beach. I can't imagine needing a permit for this but would like some clarification. Thanks, Ken.

Over the last couple of years, I've watched the growing shift in advertising from print to web. There's good reason why many of my clients are cutting costs with magazines, brochures, and rack cards while increasing their web budgets.
Approaching your target client before they've left for the island is crucial for most Hawaii businesses these days. With internet advertising and promotion, you're saving all of the cost that goes into printing, as well as attracting your clients well… Continue

The new Sinners and Saints Movie website is finished. Thought I'd share a quick comp for the initial layout. It's primarily all Flash. Fun stuff. The movie is about a cop in post-Katrina New Orleans working some of the heaviest areas. It should be pretty gritty, so we're making the site gritty while remaining crisp at the same time.
The movie is in production right now! They just signed on Tom Beringer and Sean Patrick Flanery.
Feel free to check it… Continue

I shoot a fair amount of wedding on Maui's public beaches and 99% of my experiences have been wonderful. Most everyone on the beach is so excited to see a wedding happening. Every other couple getting married (where there is a few weddings going on) is so sweet and congratulatory to the other couples. There really is a lot of Aloha that is spread around on Maui's beautiful beaches.
There are those very rare occasions though when people are not at their best. All wedding… Continue

Many of you have asked us how to be promoted on the home page.
For those of you interested in promoting your photography on the first page of this site, we suggest building your image with your name
, or photography business name
, in one of the top corners. We suggest the top left corner, but the top right works too. Also, we'll only add it if it's built at 800 px by 590 px
like in the diagram. This way it fits perfectly.

I'm debating over switching to digital. I know, I'm one of the last people to do it, but I have a real connection with working with my photos manually. Everyone tells me I need to leave the stinky chemicals and move onto the computer, but what is the advantage? Should I make this leap?
I know you can share images better, but does digital compromise quality? Sometimes I've noticed the colors aren't as vibrant and sometimes are pixelated.
Christmas is coming, so we'll see… Continue
