The first Maui Photo Festival & Workshops (MPF) plans to celebrate the beauty of Hawaii as captured by local photographers. If that includes you, here's how to get involved:
The opening reception for the four-day festival, set for September 16-20, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, will include an multimedia show produced by MPF presenter and Canon Explorer of Light Eddie Tapp.
Eddie is asking for images of Hawaii by Hawaii photographers, highlighting the diversity of our island home. The presentation will include images of island culture, scenery, environment and people — aerials to underwater, landscapes to action, wide-angle to macro — from the unique perspective of those who live here.
Submissions should include no more than ten images for consideration from each photographer, with up to five selected for the finished production. Eddie envisions a presentation where the photographer's name appears first on the screen, then fades in size and opacity as the photographer's images zoom in.
Only digital images will be accepted and should be 1600 pixels at the longest dimension and saved as a jpg. Each entry should be named with your last name and a number, i.e., name01.jpg, name02.jpg, name03.jpg. Deadline for submission is July 30, 2009. Send entries via email to email@example.com and include your full name, home island, and photographic specialty along with your contact information. Rest assured that your images will not be used for any other purpose without your expressed written permission.
Photographers with images selected will receive an invitation to the MPF welcome reception on September 16th, 2009, be acknowledged in the printed MPF program as an opening reception contributor and receive a DVD of the final presentation.
